Application Method

1. Prepare substrate – clean, dry, flat and primed if required. 2. Apply Vulka-Bond with a notched trowel at 200–350g/m² depending on substrate porosity. 3. Allow to become tacky (approx. 20–30 minutes at 20°C). 4. Lay flooring and press firmly. Roll with a 50kg roller for full contact. 5. Allow 24 hours before heavy traffic.

What adhesive should I use for rubber flooring?

Use a contact adhesive or pressure-sensitive adhesive specifically formulated for rubber flooring. Solvent-based contact adhesives give a stronger permanent bond; water-based versions are lower odour and suitable for enclosed spaces.

How do I apply rubber flooring adhesive?

Apply adhesive to both surfaces (subfloor and rubber backing) using a notched trowel. Allow to become touch-dry (typically 10–20 minutes), then press surfaces together firmly and roll with a flooring roller.

How much adhesive do I need per square metre?

Coverage varies by product but typically 200–350g/m² is required per coat. For a full bond (both surfaces coated), double this figure. Check product data sheet for exact coverage.

Is a primer needed before applying rubber flooring adhesive?

On porous substrates (concrete, screed), a primer coat is recommended to seal the surface and improve adhesion. Non-porous surfaces (existing tiles, metal) may require a specific bonding agent.

Light foot traffic is typically possible after 12–24 hours. Full cure for heavy use takes 48–72 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Avoid heavy loads for at least 48 hours.
