Heavy Duty Door Pelmet Strip Curtains with Swivel Hinge - R3 Behind Fit
Managing large vehicle entrances, exits, and bays in industrial environments requires a robust and reliable solution to protect against harsh weather conditions. The heavy-duty door pelmet strip curtains with swivel hinge R3 behind fit offer an effective way to reduce the vertical height of these openings, providing additional shelter and improving the overall environment for both workers and goods.
Enhanced Weather Protection and Durability
Designed for maximum strength and resilience, these pelmet strip curtains are ideal for areas that are exposed to the elements and vulnerable to weather-related damage. The curtains are built to withstand harsh conditions, keeping areas drier and more pleasant for those who work within them. The PVC strips, securely bolted onto the galvanised steel rail, create a tough barrier that helps to maintain a controlled internal environment, protecting goods from moisture and other environmental factors.
Unique Swivel Hinge Rail System
One of the standout features of these curtains is the swivel hinge rail system, a design unique to Redwood. Known for being one of the toughest curtain rail systems in the UK, this robust construction reduces the risk of damage over time, leading to fewer repairs and lower maintenance costs. The rails are custom-made to cover any span and come fully assembled, ready for installation. However, it’s important to note that these rails are not self-supporting and must be fitted onto a structurally secure surface across the entire span of the opening.
Versatile Behind-Fit Installation
The R3 behind fit option allows for versatile installation, enabling the curtain rails to be mounted behind the opening. This is particularly useful for situations where the curtain system needs to be unobtrusive yet effective. The PVC strips are pre-punched with hanging holes that match the rail setup, ensuring a seamless fit. Fixings for mounting the rail are not included, as they should be provided by the installer to suit the specific fitting surface. Once in place, the strips slot into the wrap-around swivel hinges and are bolted securely with the supplied M8 nuts and bolts.
High-Quality PVC for Clear Visibility
Crafted from standard clear PVC, these strips are known for their exceptional see-through quality, allowing light to pass through with minimal distortion. This ensures that the working environment remains bright and visible while still providing the necessary screening. The PVC is also highly flexible and impact-resistant, making it suitable for high-traffic areas. Additionally, the material contains anti-UV filters to protect against the sun’s harmful rays, further extending the life of the curtains.
Effective Noise Reduction and Energy Efficiency
Beyond weather protection, these strip curtains offer additional benefits, such as effective noise reduction and energy efficiency. The PVC material acts as a sound barrier, helping to create a quieter and more comfortable working environment. Moreover, by reducing heat loss and limiting exposure to cold winds, these curtains contribute to maintaining a stable internal temperature, which can lead to significant energy savings over time.
Practical Installation and Maintenance Tips
Upon receiving the PVC strips, you may notice a slight curl at the base due to being rolled for storage. This is a normal occurrence and can be easily rectified by unrolling the strips and allowing them to flatten out overnight. In colder conditions, this process may take longer, but applying gentle heat or reverse rolling the strips can speed up the process. Once installed, the strips will hang smoothly, providing effective protection and clear visibility.
Long-Term Durability
The longevity of PVC strip curtains depends on the environment and the type of traffic they endure. As a consumable product, the strips will eventually need replacing, but careful use and regular maintenance can extend their lifespan. To maximise durability, it’s recommended to install the curtains behind doors or openings that provide some degree of shelter. When fully exposed to the elements, the PVC may deteriorate more quickly, particularly in harsh weather conditions. Regular inspections and timely replacements will ensure that the curtains continue to perform effectively.
Conclusion
The heavy-duty door pelmet strip curtains with swivel hinge R3 behind fit are an excellent choice for industrial settings where weather protection, durability, and energy efficiency are paramount. With a unique and robust rail system, high-quality PVC strips, and versatile installation options, these curtains provide a reliable solution for managing large vehicle entrances and exits. Investing in these strip curtains not only enhances the working environment but also contributes to long-term cost savings through reduced maintenance and energy efficiency.

Certification: DOP free. Complies fully with all REACH regulations.
Longevity: PVC strip is considered a consumable product. How fast it’s consumed is beyond any manufacturer’s or supplier’s control. Its lifespan will be dictated by where it’s used, what type of traffic might move through it and how carefully (or aggressively) such traffic does so. To help maximise its working life, we always recommend that PVC curtains are fitted internally behind doors or openings that can provide a degree of shelter. If they’re fitted outside of a doorway or building, fully exposed to the elements all day and night, they can deteriorate and/or lose clarity more quickly. The rate of this will depend entirely on the severity of the local weather. We have some customers who replace their PVC annually… others who’ve had the same for many, many years.
NOTE: All dimensions nominal. Subject to original manufacturer’s standard tolerances.
