How is rubber flooring roll width measured?

Cutting thin rubber (up to 6mm): A sharp Stanley knife with a fresh blade and a metal straight edge produces clean cuts. Mark your cutting line with chalk or a marker, clamp the straight edge, and pull the blade toward you in a single firm stroke. For curves, score first then cut in sections.
Cutting medium rubber (8–15mm): Score deeply with a Stanley knife (3–5 passes) along the cutting line, then snap over the straight edge. Alternatively, use a jigsaw with a rubber-cutting blade. For van lining, a reciprocating saw makes fast work of large sections.
Cutting thick rubber (17mm+): An angle grinder with a cutting disc or a jigsaw with a coarse blade is most effective. Thick rubber generates heat during cutting — keep the blade moving and allow rest time to avoid melting the cut edge.
Installation methods: For temporary or relocatable installations, loose-lay with the rubber's own weight holding it in place. For permanent commercial installations, use contact adhesive on the perimeter and seam areas — avoid full adhesive coverage as rubber requires room to expand and contract with temperature changes. Overlapping seams by 10mm and cutting through both layers simultaneously (double-cut) creates invisible joins on large floor areas.
